The $760M Midway Airport Terminal Development Program included the reconstruction of the terminal/ concourse facility at Midway International Airport. Work included a new 941,000-square-foot terminal building, multi-level parking structure, concourses and concessions area, central heating plant, on-airport and off-airport roadway, parking lot and infrastructure improvements A number of enhancements were added which included a flyover entrance off of Cicero Avenue to improve accessibility and ease local traffic, upper level and lower level curb-fronts to segregate passenger traffic from commercial traffic, and a protected-passenger link between the new terminal complex and the CTA Orange Line Commuter Station.
CivCon Services, Inc., as part of the Program Management Team, provided civil design management and coordination services for multiple civil contracts. Duties included the technical coordination and oversight of various civil contracts including the development of landside and airside-supporting facilities. These support facilities included an on-airport roadway system, site drainage and utilities, arterial street improvements, support parking facilities for the CTA, public and employee airport parking lots, major infrastructure and roadway relocations, apron and taxiway pavement and lighting, airfield grading and drainage, and fire protection and aircraft fueling systems.
