As part of the $50M I-355 South Extension Roadway Resurfacing and Bridge Repair Project, the section between Boughton Road and 127th Street, south of the Des Plaines River, was part of the overall 12.5-mile extension of I-355 from I-55 through Will County to I-80. This project was part of the Tollway’s Congestion-Relief Program to reduce travel times and provide a regional connection that improves north-south mobility between I-55 and I-80. The scope of work included mainline concrete paving, center barrier medians and asphalt shoulders throughout the corridor. Other scope of work items included earthwork and drainage provisions at the I-55 and I-355 interchange, including the new flyover ramp bridge from southbound I-355 to northbound I-55 and the new ramp for northbound I-55 to northbound I-355.
CivCon Services, Inc., as part of the Construction Management Team, provided construction engineering services. Duties included field inspection and measurements and documentation of construction activities.
