The CREATE B-12 Alsip Bridge Project included a third main line along the Indiana Harbor Belt between 123rd Street M.P. 17.85 and the Cal Sag Channel in Alsip and Blue Island, Illinois. Prior to completion of this project, freight trains destined to the Barr and Blue Island Yards staged at this location for access to the yards, creating congestion on the main line tracks. The third main line now provides the much needed capacity for trains traveling through the area to bypass trains waiting for yard access.
CivCon Services, Inc. provided construction engineering services for the new rail bridge over 127th Street, associated signal work and roadway improvements along 127th Street. Duties included construction observation and administration of all elements of the contract. Office responsibilities included preparation of inspection daily reports.
