The Wacker Drive Viaduct Reconstruction from Monroe to Van Buren Street is part of the Revive Wacker Drive project that consists of modernizing the upper and lower levels of Wacker Drive by creating safer, more efficient roadways for motorists, pedestrians and bicyclists. The Wacker Drive Viaduct is a reinforced concrete multi-span structure. This portion of the Wacker Drive Viaduct is approximately 1,500 feet long and 130 feet wide. Work for this project included complete demolition of the deck, columns and partial foundation removal, additional caisson, new grade beam, new columns, a post tension high performance concrete deck with latex-modified concrete overlay and improved drainage, lighting and traffic signals.
CivCon Services, Inc., as part of the Construction Management Team, provided construction engineering services. Duties included field inspection and measurements and documentation of construction activities.
